WHAT IS A TRAINEESHIP?

A Traineeship is a structured program, combining hands-on work experience and paid employment. The program can be completed as a full-time contract for 12 months, or on a part-time contract over 18 months.  It is the trainee’s responsibility to ensure that all assessment tasks are completed and submitted on or before the due date

 

WHY EMPLOYEE A TRAINEE?

It’s a great future investment! Considering the prospective needs of your organisation a traineeship is as a great way to recruit or upskill staff.

 

DURATION
The program can be completed as a full-time contract for 12 months or on a part-time contract over 18 months (minimum of 15 to 20 hours per week)

School Based Trainees complete over a period of 18 months, for 1 or 2 days per week)

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Wages: An employer is required to pay a trainee a minimum training award wage 

Study Fees: Depending on the qualification being studied, fees will vary. An employer can choose to pay the fees on behalf of the trainee, a trainee can pay the fees themselves or it can be a combination of the two.

Note: It is a good idea to indicate your chosen method in the advertising process.

In directly employing an Australian Trainee your business may be eligible for Australian Government financial incentives, this could be up to $4,000.
